What Their Date Choice Really Means They’re Looking For

  • What Their Date Choice Really Means They’re Looking For

So, you’ve matched and are chatting, then the question of meeting in person comes up. Excellent! That’s always a good sign, right? Then comes the elaborate dance of trying to figure out what you want to do on the date and where you want to go. Now, there are some people who take decisive action and actually have somewhere in mind already based on either your chats or their convenience. Or you find yourselves going back and forth for days on end trying to pick a venue that’s suitable for both of you. Either way, whatever they pick can tell you a whole lot. Let’s look at 6 different date types and we’ll tell you what their date choice really means they’re looking for…

When they ask you out and you then comes the date choice

    • The Coffee Date

Ah the coffee date. Say what you will about it and the great coffee vs. drinks debate (many have mixed feelings) but it’s definitely a cute date choice. It tells you that they’re happy to meet somewhere chill, where they can have a (sober) chat, meaning they just want to focus on getting to know you. It also shows a level of concern for your comfort. You can cut a coffee date short if it’s not going well quite easily, but you can also extend it as easily too. This date says they’re either looking for something more than a one-night stand, or they just wanted a quick meet up to see if there’s anything there.

If it’s a bar they’ve never been to, they’re open to something long term

and are already trying to make new experiences with you. If it’s just their

local, they likely just want to get laid.

    • The Drinks Date

If I had to guess, I’d say the drinks date is likely the most common. It’s fairly easy, after all bars and pubs are everywhere. If you’re someone who gets nervous on dates, there’ll be Dutch courage at hand and much like coffee, it can be cut short or extended fairly easily. Depending on the drinks spot, this date choice can tell you a ton. If it’s a bar they’ve never been to, they’re open to something long term and are already trying to make new experiences with you. When it’s just their local, they likely just want to get laid. If they suggest drinks last minute, they definitely just want to get laid.

    • The Dinner Date

is dinner as a date choice good or bad?

I feel like the dinner date can come across as a bit intense, especially as a first date. After all, it’s a lot harder to find a way to duck out of a three-course meal, than a couple of drinks. However, this date choice could suggest that they’re looking for something serious. If it’s a really fancy restaurant, they’re definitely looking to impress and could possibly looking to receive some sort of thank you (wink, wink, nudge, nudge nudge) for pulling out all the stops. If you want to truly test this, try suggesting somewhere more lowkey and see what they say…

    • The Cinema Date

I, for one, really don’t get the point of the cinema date. Especially on the first couple of dates. To me, I’ve always felt this date choice meant that they didn’t really want to talk and for us to get to know each other. Sure, you can probably do something else afterwards, but suggesting the cinema in the first couple of dates just says they’re not open to getting to know you and that you could be anyone. No, thank you!

    ___________________________________________________________________

They want to know if you can have fun together and clearly the ‘friend’

aspect of boyfriend/girlfriend is an important part to them in a relationship.

    • The Activity Date

Who doesn’t love a good activity? This date choice says they really want to get know you. They’ve chosen a place where you’re more likely to relax and be yourself. They want to know if you can have fun together and clearly the ‘friend’ aspect of boyfriend/girlfriend is an important part to them in a relationship. They’re about creating memories and building something lasting together.

    • The Date Near Their Place

There is no mistaking this one. They definitely just want to get some and picking somewhere near their place makes it easier to suggest, without much work on their part and no travel. Basic.

When you're single and open to any date choice

So, there you have it! This is what their date choice really means they’re looking for. If you have an idea of what you’d like to do on your date, feel free to make suggestions to them. Their response can tell you a whole lot too 😉
