Shows that have made us cry, laugh or just plain horny, we’ve had them all lately. That being said, we still need new things to watch. We’ve all been there, sat in front on Netflix just scrolling for hours and then settling on something we’ve already seen. Well, no more! It’s time for something new and interesting. So, without further ado, here are 4 dating series to binge if you need more to watch…

Soulmates
If you’re looking for something with a Black Mirror vibe, then you’ve come to the right place. Soulmates is the 6-episode Amazon Prime original that asks the question, what would happen if there was a genetic test that could tell you with 100% certainty who your soulmate is? Each episode follows new characters and how this test influences their lives. The show is set 15 years in the future, so naturally there are characters who have been in relationships for years, before the test even existed. There are characters who took the test before they met their current partner. All this leads to some fascinating TV and will leave you with a lot of deep, philosophical questions. Indian Matchmaking
Ok, so this is one of the dating series I watched last year after a friend got me into it and it is amazing. Netflix have definitely been behind some of the most watched dating reality shows of late (looking at you, Love is Blind. Will never forget Jessica giving her dog wine…) If you’ve ever been interested in the world of matchmaking and marriage practices in Indian communities, then this is the series for you. The matchmaking business is huge in India and this series give an in depth look to how they work, how involved the families are, how big a role caste systems can play and shows the contrasts between how the matchmaking works in India and America. You get to see the clients grow throughout the show, as well as relate to some of the struggles of modern dating.

Modern Love
Ah, another fantastic Amazon Prime original. Modern Love is based on the New York Times weekly column (which also inspired a podcast) and each episode is centred around a new person and their ‘modern love’. The best thing about this dating series is that it touches on all types of love. Sure, there’s a tone of romantic love, but there’s also self-love, familial love and platonic relationships. There’s a range of ages shown too, which helps the show have something for everyone. Whether you’re single, actively dating or married, there’s an episode for you. Personally, the standout episode for me was the one starring Anne Hathaway and the way they depicted mental health felt real and honest. Plus, the show has been greenlit for a season 2, so something to look forward to!

Love, Victor
Ah Disney + and their new addition Star. The best decision they’ve ever made. As much as we love getting nostalgic watching the back catalogue of movies from our childhood (and also being blown away by WandaVision every week, what a show!) having Star has meant they can show some slightly more ‘mature’ content… Star is essentially their UK equivalent of Hulu and with it there have been lovely additions like Love, Victor. So, I’m sure we’re all aware of the fantastically, adorable piece of cinema that is Love, Simon, a movie about a high school guy with a normal, happy life, but who is hiding a big secret… he’s not out yet. Well Love, Victor is set in the same world. Victor is a half Puerto Rican, half Colombian-American teen who has moved to the city Simon lived in and is navigating the same high school while on his journey of self-discovery and struggling with sexual orientation. So far, there are 3 episodes out and I’m already hooked. Just loving the online friendship between Victor and Simon. Also, season 2 is on its way!
