Hi guys! I know, I KNOW it’s been a while, but I have a little, well, actually a pretty AMAZING story to share with you, so get nice and comfy 🙂 Now, you are all well aware of my exciting and unorthodox internship with CLiKD (and if you’re not, feel free to catch up on my blog right this second!) Well, that journey has been one serious ride and I feel like this month it got EVEN better. I feel like I’ve been to my dating internship graduation night to top it all off! As it turns out, * drumroll please * I was actually nominated for the “Best Dating Blogger of 2017” award, along with 4 others contestants, and I even got the chance to attend the UK Dating Awards. It was time to get my glitz and glam on, so, let me tell you all about it…
Entering the Business World Behind Dating
So, the dating industry is fairly new to me. Turns out there is A LOT of behind the scenes action going on to make it possible for people to be swiping left and right like nobody’s business. Needless to say, attending the UK Dating Awards really opened my eyes to how vast it all is!
You have the apps, websites, matchmakers, TV shows, as well as bloggers (like yours truly) and it actually made me realize that all these creators are out there really dedicating their lives to helping people find love in the most niche, unconventional ways possible. I mean there are apps and sites for literally for anyone and everyone, no matter what you’re into. Let’s just say that there are some pretty “interesting” things some people are into… but we won’t go into details right now 😉
A Win for CLiKD, but a Near Miss for Me
Anyways, back to CLiKD and the dating equivalent of the Oscars! Altogether, CLiKD were nominated for three categories, one of which was my dating blogger one, YAY! Unfortunately though (sorry CLiKD guys) I didn’t win… * BOO * but hey ho! I’m still a newbie in this industry, so who knows maybe next year? Keep your eyes peeled, this girl is going places 🙂
But I want to take this time to say that I’m very, VERY proud of CLiKD for winning the award for Innovation within the Dating Industry by Protect My Call!
I’m so happy for you guys! Well done, you deserve it! Also, I can’t put into words how amazing it was to run up onto the stage with my boss and grab the award! That is definitely something I’ll remember for a long time.
The unforgettable experiences just keep on coming since I joined the CLiKD team. I have to say the evening was truly so wonderful. It was in this beautiful, historic venue and, obviously, everyone looked the part. As we came into the event, I even got a compliment from one of the judges (who in my opinion looked the best in her ‘Queen of Hearts’ themed outfit. Wonder if she’ll lend it to me sometime…) so that was pretty awesome.
Dinner is Served, With a Cherry on Top
You know how at award shows (as seen only on TV, until now…) the food always looks very plastic and it seems like all the celebs avoid the food, as if it’s so tasteless that they want to try to hide it in their purses, so they don’t look rude? Well, the food that night was nothing like that! We were served a genuinely tasty dinner, so I was pleasantly surprised and sated.
It wasn’t just the food either, everything was just brilliant. The dinner was accompanied by a string quartet (super fancy guys) and there was even entertainment by Out of the Blue who sang a few acapella tunes. I have to applaud them because normally that kind of music is not really my cup of tea (you know me) but it was very enjoyable. CLiKD might have expanded my musical horizons a little, on top of everything else they’ve done for me!
I also got to meet some great people (see the picture above with the big CLiKD boss himself) and had a very fun night indeed. It was a very sophisticated and magical evening, a cherry on top of everything that has already happened this year.
As CLiKD promised, even though the internship has ended, my journey with them is still full of wonderful surprises and, spoiler alert, it will continue to do so… Exciting times ahead, guys!
For now though, that’s it from me guys 🙁 but stay tuned! Oh and don’t forget to wrap up warm, especially now that we actually have some real snow, just in time for Christmas 😉
Until next time…
