5 Things That Happen After The Honeymoon Phase Is Over

  • 5 Things That Happen After The Honeymoon Phase Is Over

Ah, the honeymoon phase. Those fun, light initial few months where everything is all hearts and flowers and neither of you can do anything wrong in the other’s eyes. We’ve all been there. It’s the beginning of the relationship where everything is perfect and reality hasn’t quite set in yet. It’s a wonderful time but, like all wonderful things, they can be affected by change. No need to panic! Just because this phase is over, doesn’t mean things between the two of you will be too. So, here are 5 things that happen after the honeymoon phase is over…

When the honeymoon phase is over

    • You get more comfortable around each other

You’re now past the phase of constantly being on your best behaviour and trying to seem perfect. Now, you both know you’re into each other and want to see where things go for real. That knowledge can make you feel safe and reassured. There’s less pressure to actively impress your partner after the honeymoon phase is over. Now, you can just enjoy being yourselves and being together.

Date nights are still important when the honeymoon phase is over,

but it’s less about what you do and the fact that you’re doing something together.

    • Not everything you do together has to be a fancy, perfect ‘event’

During the honeymoon phase, you’re all about dressing up for each other and going all out with the romance. Of course, this shouldn’t be forgotten. Now, however, you’re just as happy to chill and do nothing together at home as you are to get all glammed up to go dancing. Date nights are still important when the honeymoon phase is over, but it’s less about what you do and the fact that you’re doing something together. It won’t always need to be fancy.

    • You stop pretending you don’t have normal bodily functions

You can resume having bodily functions again when the honeymoon phase is over

Who among us hasn’t panicked about burping, passing gas or just using the loo at each other’s places during the early days? Once that’s over, you can stop feeling like you’ll die of shame in you fart in front of each other. You already like each other. You’re both human. Now that the honeymoon phase is over, you can even joke about it. If things go well, you’ll even find yourself chatting while one of you is on the loo in the future.

That trust you built will be the foundation of your relationship,

even after the honeymoon phase is over.

    • You can be more honest when you’re not feeling great

Good news! You no longer have to act like everything is perfect all the time. It’s ok to not be ok constantly. If you’re feeling ill for example, you’ll no longer be worrying about them seeing you look rough. If you’re having a rubbish day, you’ll just want to share it with them, no worrying about sounding whiny. That trust you built will be the foundation of your relationship, even after the honeymoon phase is over.

    • You’ll have fights, but that’s ok

When the honeymoon phase is over, you’ll be more comfortable not agreeing about everything. You’ll now be aware that your relationship can survive it. You’ll (hopefully) learn to how to have disagreements in a healthy way as you both grow. It’s completely normal not to agree all the time, it’s how you handle those disagreements that’s really the true test.

Fighting when the honeymoon phase is over is normal

So, there you have it! 5 things that happen after the honeymoon phase is over. This isn’t a bad thing. As things progress, change is inevitable. To have made it to the ‘after’ is a great thing, it shows that your connection is strong and the trust is there. Either that, or you’re both stubborn as hell! 😉 Best of luck.
